🔥 The Story Behind the Name
The name Jurate comes from the Lithuanian legend of JuratÄ— and Kastytis, a tale of love, sacrifice, and the sea. In the myth, JuratÄ— is a sea goddess who dwells in a golden amber castle beneath the Baltic Sea. She falls in love with a mortal fisherman, Kastytis. When their union defies the gods, tragedy strikes. Her castle is shattered, and its fragments—according to the story—become the amber that still washes ashore on Baltic beaches.
Amber is more than folklore. It is a symbol of resilience forged through time—ancient resin transformed by pressure, preserved in beauty, and revealed only through rupture. I chose JuratÄ— as the name for my practice not merely to honor my roots but to name the deeper spiritual and psychological reality I’ve come to believe through study, suffering, and grace:
The deepest healing often emerges from the very places where we’ve been shattered—but not abandoned.
My Lithuanian lineage carries the legacy of exile and endurance. My grandparents, displaced by war and Soviet persecution, arrived in America with faith and fortitude as strengths, little else. What they handed down to me was not just tradition but a theology of the cross: that suffering, when united with Christ, becomes formative—not merely something to endure, but something that forges the soul.
JuratÄ—, then, is not just a name. It’s a mission.
It grounds my work in Catholic psychotherapy, where healing is more than symptom relief—it’s restoration of the human person, made in the image of God. It undergirds my formation coaching through Halleluya Living, where spiritual resilience is cultivated through discipline, prayer, and mission. And it gives shape to Warrior of the Kingdom, where virtue, strength, and sacramental life meet the energy and hunger of youth.
Across every expression of my work, one truth remains:
We are formed by fire, and founded on the Rock.
Not in spite of suffering, but through it.
Not in isolation, but in communion.
Not by mere effort, but by grace.
